Paul Curtis Halvorson, 70 of Gaylord, MI passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Ridgeview Waconia Hospital in Waconia, MN. Born on October 2, 1951 in Detroit, MI, the son of Emily and Donald Halvorson. He had three sisters and one brother.
His early years were spent in Livonia, MI and their family moved to Gaylord when he was a teenager residing on Otsego Lake. He graduated from Gaylord High School in 1969. He attended Ferris State University.
On October 20, 1984 he married Lisa Schuelke. They were blessed to share 37 years together, and raised three sons. Paul began working at a young age having various employers. He was a skilled Carpenter, and operated Halvorson Construction for close to twenty years in the Gaylord area. In his final years he was employed at SHI International Corp. as a Field Service Technician out of Somerset, New Jersey. And then retired in 2018.
Many will remember him for his kind and giving attitude, always willing to help others. In his younger years he enjoyed water skiing and was part of a club that performed on Otsego Lake. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
His passion was music he was a gifted musician, singing, playing guitar, harps, song writing and recording. Christian faith was an important part of his life, throughout the years he shared it with music.
He is survived by his wife Lisa, his sons, Stephen of Alger, MI, Aaron (Stephanie) two granddaughters, Autumn and Harper, one grandson Weston Mound, MN, Collin (fiancé Adrienne Shaltry) St. Louis Park, MN, brother John (Francine) Gaylord, MI, and three sisters, Ann Corbiser (Mark) Gaylord, MI, Phila Gilligan (Jim), North Port FL, Christine Mons (Tom) North Port FL, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Paul’s life will take place April 9, 2022, 2:00 PM at The Hope Church, 1672 M-32, Gaylord, MI 49735. Visitation starts at 1:00 PM. A luncheon will follow.
