Phyllis Jean Bomaster

Phyllis Jean Bomaster, 78 of Gaylord, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home on Friday, August 26, 2022.

Born in Alma, Michigan on October 12, 1943, she was the daughter of Arnold and Ruby (Miller) Lytle.   She was preceded in death by her five older siblings: Robert Lytle, Charles LaVern Lytle, Richard Lytle, Keith Lytle, and Joyce (Lytle) Foster. 

Phyllis was a dedicated wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma.  She spent the better part of the last three decades caring for her grandchildren full-time.  She was “Aunt Phyllis” to a great number of nieces and nephews, and over the years became known as “Grandma Phyllis” to everyone who knew her.  She enjoyed many past times, including gardening, painting, drawing, quilting and crocheting.  She was a beacon of light and spread love, wisdom and kindness to everyone she met. 

She is survived by her husband, James Bomaster of Gaylord, whom she married on May 16, 1981.  Also surviving are her children, Kimberly C. (Melissa Fitzgerald) Smith, Robert A. (Jennifer) Smith all of Gaylord, and Heather J. (Brodie) Ford; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Cameron) Jones of Grayling, Felicia Smith (Trevor Scully) of Grand Rapids, Brittany Smith (Curtis Van Doren) of Johannesburg, Devon Smith of Gaylord, Kaley Taylor of Gaylord, Kinley Taylor of Gaylord, Jacey Taylor of Gaylord, Jainey Ford of Gaylord; great grandchildren, Benton Jones of Grayling, Emitt Van Doren of Johannesburg, and Octavia Scully of Grand Rapids. 

A memorial gathering will be held at the Livingston Township Hall in Gaylord on Wednesday, October 12^th from 12pm-5pm to celebrate Phyllis’ birthday. Those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions in her memory to assist with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s educations.
