After a lengthy illness, Robert (Bob) Graczyk passed away peacefully on June 28, 2021, at his home in Gaylord, MI, at age 79.
Bob was born to Stanley and Veronica (Raynis) Graczyk on 12/7/1941 in Bay City, MI. Bob retired in 1997 to his dream, lakeside home in Gaylord, with his best friend and loving wife, Judy (Bryan) Graczyk. He taught middle school in Taylor, MI, for 33 years, coaching baseball and football for the majority of that time. In retirement, he continued his life of service to the community, volunteering on the National Ski Patrol and officiating high school baseball until recently.
Bob loved outdoor sports. He was a proficient skier, serving as a ski patroller for over 30 years both downstate and in Gaylord. He enjoyed fishing the lakes and streams around Gaylord. Bob also added golfing to his passions after retirement, devoting many hours to the game and becoming an active member of Gaylord Golf Club. A friend to many, he was the first to volunteer. No project was too big or too small. Whether it was blowing snow for neighbors, a clubhouse maintenance project, or simply taking in mail for a friend, Bob was always there.
Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and loving aunts and uncles, Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy (Bryan), children Melinda Graczyk of Redford, MI, Sean Graczyk of Beaverton, OR, and grandson Gavin Vaughn of Beaverton, OR. Bob is also survived by his three brothers Eugene (Janet) and Gerard (Mary) of Essexville, MI, and Kenneth of Buena Vista, CO.
A celebration of Bob’s life and the love his family will continue to hold for him will take place August 7, 2021, at Gaylord Golf Club, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that we continue Bob’s devotion to youth development with donations to Gaylord Area Junior Golf Association, C/O Gaylord Golf Club, 4893 M-32 West, Gaylord MI 49735.
