Thomas Derkatz

Thomas “Tom” Derkatz, 81 of Wolverine, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at home surrounded by his children. Born in Detroit on May 5, 1941, he was the son of Michael and Irene (Wrobleski) Derkatz.

Tom grew up in Detroit and moved his family to Wolverine, MI in 1971. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Sunday dinner, outdoor movie nights and sitting around the bonfire were some of the things that he looked forward to.

Tom is survived by his former wife, Neva (Ford) Derkatz; his children, Tom Derkatz of Wolverine, Deborah (William) Wuebben of Jeddo, Linda (Gordon) Leese of Pickford, Donald (Tracy) Derkatz of Jeddo, Heather (Gene) Spies of Lewiston and Lona (Steven) Gapinski of Gaylord; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Helm of Jackson; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Derkatz; daughter-in-law, Laura Derkatz and Grandson, Caleb Spies.

A memorial service will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Wolverine Free Methodist Church in Wolverine, MI. Pastor Steve Evoy will officiate. A luncheon will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Compassus Hospice, 12480 State Street, Suite 10, Atlanta MI 49709.
