Thomas Lee Eaton, 74 of Harbor Springs, entered into his eternal home in Heaven on May 29, 2025, at Bay Bluffs following a long and arduous health battle, with his family at his side.
Tom was born on January 13, 1951, in Petoskey, Michigan. He remained in the Petoskey area his entire life. He attended St. Francis Catholic School and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1969. Tom worked in the laboratory at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital, for 39 years. He enjoyed being a referee and umpire for over 20 years, but his true joy was coaching or attending the sporting events of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In his spare time, he built and re-shafted golf clubs, enjoyed golfing, ice fishing, and kayaking, but his favorite was mushroom hunting in the spring. Stutsmanville Chapel in Harbor Springs was a large part of his life where he was active as an Elder, Awana Kids Ministry Coach, Keryx Prison Ministry and was continuously volunteering.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Linda; his daughter, Nikole (Shannon) Kasparek of Clearwater, Fl., his son, Troy (Kara) Eaton of Livonia; stepsons, Carey Truman, Joshua (Amy) Truman and Daniel Truman all of Harbor Springs; brothers, William (Jeanne) Eaton III and Ronald (Mary) Eaton all of Charlevoix; sister and brothers-in-law, Lois VanTol, Dennis Young, Kenneth (Sheli) Young and Terry (Sarah) Young; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Eaton and Winifred Ulrich; his stepmother, Cleo Eaton; brother, Michael Eaton, sister in-law, Laurie Luebke and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Young.
For the past 2 ½ years, Tom was a resident at Bay Bluffs where they took excellent care of him. The family wishes to express our heartfelt appreciation for each and every staff member at Bay Bluffs for the excellent care, kindness and compassion he received there. They were all amazing. Another thank you to his faithful friends, Lamar and Tommy as well as nephew, Billy, who stood by him throughout his journey.
He may be gone from our sites but he will be forever in our heart.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 AM Friday, June 13, 2025, at Stutsmanville Chapel in Harbor Springs, where the family will visit with friends beginning at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stutsmanville Chapel, Keryx Prison Ministries, or Bay Bluffs.
