Thomas J. Lequier

Thomas John Lequier, 86 of Petoskey, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on April 6, 2026, with his devoted wife, Carole, at his side. His journey in this life began on August 27, 1939 in Pontiac, Michigan, where he was born to Joseph and Mary (Boka) Lequier. He would go on to leave a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Tom graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Royal Oak, Michigan, and University of Detroit Business School. He devoted his career to the computer business and later traveled the country to lend his expertise as a consultant. A unique ability, to not only understand business, but also the human experience as a disciple of Christ, allowed him to connect with everyone who crossed his path. He was not just a professional; he was a leader and storyteller who brought laughter and warmth to those around him. Throughout his life Tom remained humble and selfless, always putting others before himself. His authenticity was real and shone through in every conversation.

Tom’s life was shaped by his early experiences, having met the love of his life in the first grade at St. Mary's. What started as a childhood friendship blossomed into a beautiful marriage that lasted a lifetime and brought about four sons to whom his love and devotion never wavered. He was one of six children, five brothers and one sister, each of whom shared in the joy of his life and the bonds of family that he cherished deeply.

Tom was a man of deep faith, which began as an altar boy in his youth. Through times of failure, loss, grief, suffering, and pain he always trusted in his faith and the plan that God had for him. Each day he considered a joyful blessing. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and love. His spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him, as we collectively remember the remarkable man he was.

He is survived by his wife, Carole, sons, John of White Lake Township, Jim of Davison, Bill of Shelby Township, and Tim (Elena) of Boyne Falls; grandchildren, David, Kate, Nate, and Zachary; and his brother Bob of Royal Oak.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary; his brothers, Joseph, George, and David; and his sister Mary.

A funeral mass will take place at 11 o'clock, Friday, May 8, 2026 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Boyne City (1303 Boyne Ave). Visitation will begin at 10 o'clock. A luncheon will immediately follow mass. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice or to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
