Usvaldo Ybarra

With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of Usvaldo Ybarra, who left us peacefully on August 14, 2026, at the age of 66.

Usvaldo was born on June 4, 1960, in the vibrant community of Harlingen, Texas, to Gregorio and, Ameli Ybarra, as the second child with three sisters. At the age of nine the family moved to Michigan to be close to family and a job for Usvaldo's father. When he was in his teens, Usvaldo lost both his mom and dad. His older sister, Leticia was very instrumental in him getting his diploma from Bay City Central High School in 1979.

Usvaldo found his way to northern Michigan where he worked at the Gaylord Theater and was a dedicated housekeeper in the hospital industry, known for his warm smile and unwavering commitment to his work. He found joy in working and was often found with several side hustles to keep him busy. He met Theresa Pawlak in 2009, and married her on June 16, 2026. He passed just one day short of their second month anniversary. They loved spending time together and traveling the United States from Maryland to California. They also spent time together in the UP. One of their favorite trips was taken on the USS Badger, from Ludington to Manitowoc, WI. It was a smooth day for sailing.

Usvaldo was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Ameli Ybarra.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Theresa Pawlak, whose companionship and support were a cornerstone of his life; sisters, Leticia Ybarra of Clio, Marlen (Pablo) Lopez of Alvin TX, and Nora Lee (Louie) Velasquez of Bay City, MI; and Lemmy and Leather the two felines in his life.
