Viola Lillian Moore

Viola Lillian Moore, 89 of Gaylord, died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Aspen Ridge Retirement Village. Born on November 21, 1923 in Detroit, Viola was the daughter of William and Edith (Donald) Rowland. In 1940, Viola married Frank Jay Moore. They lived in Detroit and were married 40 years when he preceded her in death in 1981. She worked for many years as a dental assistant in Detroit, where she was also very active in her church, St. Christopher-St. Paul Episcopal Church. She had also attended St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Gaylord. Viola loved animals and she was an avid Bridge player. She lived in Walled Lake for several years, moved to Vanderbilt in 2005 and had lived at Aspen Ridge the last 5 years. In addition to her parents and her husband, Frank Jay Moore, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Jay Moore in 2008 and by brothers, George and Albert Rowland. Viola is survived by her daughter, The Rev. Pamela Sue (Dr. Dennis) Lynch of Vanderbilt; her daughter-in-law, Patti Moore of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Michael Jay Moore, Elizabeth Marie Traphagan and Morgan Jaye (Tony) Keogh; great grandchildren, Samantha, Emily and Connor; and a brother, William (Mary) Rowland of Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 25, 2013 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Gaylord with The Very Rev. William McClure officiating. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:00 A.M. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Episcopal Church, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or The Alzheimer’s Association through Gaylord Funeral & Cremation Service, 850 N. Center Ave, P.O. Box 249, Gaylord, MI 49734
