Warner Bennett Brown, 91, died from Alzheimer's on April 30, 2023, at his home with family at his side. He was born December 25, 1931, in Flint, Michigan—the Only son of John Warner and Marion (Bennett) Brown.

Warner served in the Army as a Combat Engineer in the 6th Army Division in the Korean War. He earned a Purple Heart and a Korean Service medal with three Bronze Stars.

He was a Flint Fireman for over 25 years before he moved North to Elmira, Michigan, to build a home with his wife of 43 years, Shirley Ann Gaines. He spent his retirement years working on his tree farm and building wood furniture.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Nancy and Vivian; his sons, Philip John and Timothy Alan Brown. Surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley (Gaines) Brown, are his daughter, Dawn Marie and her husband, Carl Knouse; grandkids, Charles, Heather, and Trevor Knouse; along with great-grandkids, Payton, Lily, Paisley, and Rocco all from Gaylord, MI; and one sister, Linda Headrick.

His daughter, Marianne Brown Fingado and her husband, George; grandkids, Michael Warner, Johnathan Ryan, and Julianne Brown Fingado; his son, Steven Warner Brown and daughter, Lori Elizabeth that live out of state.  

A military ceremony will be held at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI, at a later date.  Please share your memories and personal messages with the family on his guestbook below.
