William H. Ford

William (Bill) Harold Ford age 84, of Carp Lake, Michigan entered into his eternal home on August 9, 2023, surrounded by his family. Bill was born in Petoskey on September 5, 1938, to Father, Henry Ford and Mother, Bernice (Mallory) Ford and was the oldest of three sons.
 

Bill graduated from Pellston High School in 1957 and enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country as a Radioman Third Class Petty Officer from 1958 to 1962. Upon completion of Naval service, Bill worked as a telephone repairman in Northern Michigan for 35 years. He also committed his time to his community with 45 years of service on the Carp Lake Fire Department and First Responders team and also volunteered as Conservation officer for 30 years. After retiring in 1998, Bill and Helen enjoyed many years of traveling the United States and spending time at their cabin in Canada. They met in the year 1965 and brought 3 children into their lives.

His work ethic and desire to take care of his family will be how he is remembered. Bill’s passions also included being a part of the Masonic Lodge, fishing, hunting, traveling, spending time with his family, and visiting Canadian friends.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers, Robert, and Leonard Ford. He will be incredibly missed by his wife of 56 years, Helen (Howard) Ford, children, Cheri (Jon) DuBay, Scott (Heather) Ford, and Ken (Amanda) Ford. Along with his grandchildren, Jonathan (Susan) Lanczak, Alyssa Ford, Avery Ford, and Ella Ford and one great-granddaughter, Eloise Lanczak.

A visitation is planned for Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00am. The visitation will be held at the St. Thomas Lutheran Church at 332 S. Western Ave, Cheboygan, Michigan 49721. All are invited to attend. The memorial service will follow immediately at 11:00am with a luncheon to follow for continued fellowship. An additional Chapel Service will be held the evening of Saturday, August 26 at 6:00pm at the Masonic Lodge, 12 N State St., St. Ignace, MI 49781.
