William John Penn

William J. Penn, 83 of Johannesburg, passed away at home on Thursday, March 7, 2013 with his loving wife at his side. He was born in Detroit, son of the late William Morrison and Vera (Reinhart) Penn. Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joan (Schwan-Krumpelman); her children, Robert A. Krumpelman and James R. (Linda) Krumpelman; his children, David H. (Terri) Penn, Cynthia (Ken) Operhall, Linda Robinette and Kimberly Penn; grandchildren, Jason and Rachel Krumpelman, Austin and Arroll Krumpelman, Shawn (April) Hilton, Shannon (Brent) Barrick, Cristie Operhall, Danielle Robinette, Dana (Kris) Chapman, Matthew Mackie, Derek and Brandon Bileti; as well as 8 great grandchildren. Bill was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1958 and was an active and faithful member of the Gaylord congregation for the past 20 years. He retired after 43 years from Detroit Edison (Wayne-Monroe) in December, 1991. Bill liked to collect model automobiles and he had quite a collection of them. He liked to attend the St. Ignace auto show with his “buds”. He also enjoyed travel and camping with his wife. A memorial service for Bill will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 283 McCoy Road on Sunday, March 17 at 3:30 P.M. Arrangements are by Gaylord Funeral & Cremation Service.
