George Henry Wilson

George Henry Wilson, 85 of Gaylord, MI, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021, at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital in Bay City, MI.

Born in Ionia, Michigan, on March 25, 1936, George was the son of Delbert and Roefina (Duistermars) Wilson.

A skilled machinist, George owned American Precision Machining, Inc. which was located for many years in Waterford, MI.  When he and his wife, Cynthia, moved up north in 1996, he moved the company to Chandler Hill in Boyne Falls, MI.

In his spare time, George enjoyed bowling, fishing, building projects, and “tinkering” around his home.  He also loved gardening, spending time on his tractor, and his family when they came for visits.

For several years, George and Cynthia enjoyed traveling and living full time in their RV as members of the Escapees RV group.  Each year during the winter months, they spent several weeks in Vero Beach, FL, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.  Since 2008, Gaylord has been their home.

George is survived by Cynthia, his wife of 28 years; his children, Kevin Wilson of Clarkston, MI; Bruce (Sandra) Wilson of Pontiac, MI; Gene (Penny) Wilson of Oxford, MI; and Bonnie (Larry) Scott of Spring Lake, MI; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Gaylord First United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, please consider a memorial contribution made to Habitat for Humanity.
