Nicole R. Coburn, 36 of Gaylord, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 12, 2021. Born on June 28, 1984 in Flint, Nicole was the daughter of Lisa (Laviolette) and Michael Coburn.
In 2001 she graduated from Flint Central and then attended Mott Community College with a full ride scholarship. She pursued her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse and was working towards her Bachelor of Nursing Degree through Kirtland Community College. Nicole worked as a Pharmacy Tech in the Oncology Department at McLaren Northern Michigan and then her most recent position was in the Emergency Department at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital and Mackinac Straits Health Systems. Nicole was one of a kind, a full of life personality who had a heart for people and animals. She had a heart of gold and helped others through nursing school. She was dedicated to the healthcare profession and had a knack for helping those in need. She was looking forward to being in one of her best friend’s wedding, Virginia Longfellow where their friendship began in nursing school. She adored her two dogs as they were spoiled beyond measure.
She is survived by her parents, Lisa (Erik) Pearson of Gaylord and Michael Coburn of Flint; brother, Nicholas Coburn of Gaylord; maternal grandmother, Anne Pearson; paternal grandmother, Irene Coburn; aunts and uncles, Richard (Daiquiri) Laviolette of Durand, Scott Laviolette of Davison, Michael Laviolette of Lake Orion, Claudia Brown of Traverse City, Jerry Coburn Jr of Comins and George Gibson of Saginaw; nieces and nephews, Maverick, Lexingtyn, Londyn, Emma, Kevin, Alicia, Nathan and Kyle; and her French Bulldogs that were like her children, Max and Maddie.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ida and Eugene Laviolette; paternal grandfather, Jerry Coburn and her aunt, Kathy Sparks.
A memorial gathering will take place from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, March 19, 2021 at Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Due to Covid restrictions, please briefly pay your respects to the family due to the amount of people allowed in the building at one time. In lieu of flowers, those who wish are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Otsego County Animal Shelter or to the Kirtland Community College Scholarship Fund for Nursing.
