Terry Jay Sanborn, 74 of Atlanta, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at The Porches. Born in Flint on August 1, 1948, he was the son of Jack and Orthella (Hamilton) Sanborn.
On March 16, 1968, in Flint, Michigan, he married the love of his life, Neva. He was drafted into the United States Army where he served for 2 years and was wounded in Vietnam. For 32 years, Terry worked for General Motors Flint Metal Fabricating as a Press Operator. Terry and Neva always enjoyed going up north on the weekends to get away from work and the busyness of Flint. In 1998, upon retirement, they moved to Canada Creek Ranch in Atlanta, MI. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, pistol league, bow hunting, snowmobiling. He leaves behind a long legacy of volunteerism, both on the shooting range and on the elk hunt as a guide and scout. He was also a board member at Canada Creek Ranch, where he and Neva lived, where so many wonderful memories were made, and where many close friendships were created.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Neva; his sister, Susan (Michael) McDowell; his nephews, Robert, and Richard McDowell; and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Sean McDowell.
Neva would like to give a very special thank you to The Porches of Gaylord staff and Hospice for the impeccable and heartfelt care that was given to Terry.
